Fantastic week up in Sun City

A week in Sun City? – well not exactly a week but it was a week away. I was invited to join the Reunion of all the available Miss South Africas of the past 50 years. We would spend a weekend at The Palace at Sun City. The whole celebration was at the Super Bowl.
A couple of weeks before I was due to leave I had to get kitted out with a ball gown. Who better to make it up than Kobus Dippenaar. He made me a gorgeous turquoise gown which looked great on me. Thank you Kobus for making me feel great.
My husband & I flew up to Lanseria – more convenient than OR Tambo. We were met by the the organisation and drove the 3 hours to Sun City!.
We were allocated our suite which was most comfortable indeed, and the arrangement was that we should all congregate after we had our lunch, we were supposed to have a rehearsal but due to problems with traffic not all the Miss SAs had arrived for the rehearsal, however we were at leisure until the evening.
We had to go to the Cascades where we had meetings with the media and plenty of photographs later we went into dinner at the restaurant. We gathered and sat at round tables where we got to know each other better. We sat with Michelle Bruce and Andrea Stelzer. Before the dinner I chatted with Anneline where I met her two daughters.
Lots of photographs were taken of all of us!
Saturday morning I was supposed to have my hair done, but I wont go into that disaster!
We had to be fully gowned and made up from 4 pm onwards.
Most of the girls got gowned up later as we were all just sitting around waiting for our que!
The programme was that the earliest Miss SA- that was me – would start off the introductions, and we were grouped in our years. We were accompanied with a young man about town who led us to the front of the stage where we took our curtsey and then down the steps to our places!.
It was most interesting meeting all the “girls” and chatting backstage.
