Teaching glass bead making in the early days.

I was very keen to teach people the most tantalizing craft of bead making and towards that end, I put myself out there.

Well this company in Johannesburg who had the equipment and were keen to get the craft of bead making going contacted me while I was in Somerset West and brought me up to Johannesburg. I had to use their equipment and so I got myself ready to teach. The equipment was new to me, I was used to another company’s  bead release which I was used to, so I presumed it was all the same.

Well when I ventured to use their bead release it seemed quite different, however I just thought it would work the same way as I was used to. Needless to say there was quite a difference which I only discovered much later. There was nothing I could do, I just had to use their products.

Another problem was that their kiln was very small not really the size to take all the mandrels that were being used.

Of course there was nothing I could do I just had to make do with what I had been given.

Why I am bringing this up now is because I keep remembering the whole experience and it still rankles!
